Finally! I reveal the collared and cuffed shirt dress I made. This is by far the most challenging sewing project I’ve worked on and I’m so happy with how it turned out.
I originally started working with a different colour fabric – a grey tartan print – and I discovered halfway through making the shirt that I didn’t have enough fabric! When I went back to the fabric store, they didn’t have more of that same print so I ended up using this red one – which looks pretty good, I must say!
“I’m super chuffed because I made this from scratch just by studying a denim shirt I own.”
I first worked on the collar, which – might I add – was waaaaay too big. It was CLOWN big! But somehow I managed to make it work. I paid special attention to detail on this shirt and I used a lot of top stitching to give it a professional-looking finish. To showcase the versatility of my shirt dress, I decided to style it three different ways, just like I did with my v-neck sweater. These three looks are more casual and laid back, but still edgy. This is a great piece to own to transition into the colder months of the year. You could still rock your summer outfits, and simply layer on a shirt dress to amp up your vibe.
