I’m super excited to bring you my next creation – this Talia v-neck inspired sweater.
I am in love with the detailing and since I couldn’t find one of these babies anywhere in South Africa, I decided to make myself one using lightweight material that is normally used for soccer t-shirts, and some leftover soft leatherette I had lying around from a previous DIY project.
“This DIY project was not easy! Just getting the neckline to line up straight while trying to stitch as close to the edge as possible was quite a challenge.”
I can’t tell you how many times I seam ripped it until it was close enough to acceptable. I think it turned out pretty awesome though – I paid a lot of attention to detailing and I pretty much feel like I crafted every single nook and cranny that is this sweater. I am so proud of it and I can’t stop smiling as I’m writing this post! I wore the ensemble with the denim joggers to the Build Your Blog workshop hosted by the iconic Aqeelah of Fashion Breed. It was so awesome to finally meet her – you’ve seen her photos… now let me tell you, she is even more stunning in person. And what really made my day was that she couldn’t believe that I had made the sweater! A sure fire sign that I must be on the right track with this fashion design passion of mine. This sweater is very versatile, and I wanted to showcase that by styling it in three different ways – from comfy casual to bombshell sexy. What’s amazing about this is that all three looks are definitely my style – minimalist, edgy and effortlessly chic.
