August is going to be the month of getting out of my comfort zone. I started a new health regime and I said YES to doing a talk on “Power Dressing” at the Nia Azuri Beauty Spa “A Woman’s Worth” event.
I knew I just had to make myself a one-of-a-kind dress to wear to the talk. It is inspired by the Victorian era – my favourite fashion era, might I add – and I’m so inlove with the detail and the high necklines. I tried my hand at a fabric manipulation technique called “pin tucks” and I’m so amazed at how these turned out on my dress! Dresses are my favourite piece of clothing, mostly because you can be fully dressed without having to worry about mixing ‘n matching various items of clothing. I kept it simple, as always, and paired it with my booties from ZARA, and some sheer stockings.
“…I ended up leaving my notes in my bag and I spoke from my heart. Even though I was super nervous, the girls were absolutely supportive and I couldn’t have asked for a better, more beautiful audience.”
I was asked to share my personal style journey and to chat about Power Dressing. I have to admit, as I sat on the couch, watching the girls arrive, I noticed that they were all dressed impeccably and I started worrying about why I was even there to begin with! Then I remembered my hubby’s words… that I deserve to be there, that they wouldn’t have asked me to talk if they didn’t think it was going to be worth it. After all, the event was about a woman’s worth, and more than ever I had to draw from this power within myself, and as I sat there listening to all the talks I was so inspired to be the best version of me, that I ended up leaving my notes in my bag and I spoke from my heart. Even though I was super nervous, the girls were absolutely supportive and I couldn’t have asked for a better, more beautiful audience.
